Woodblock relief printing
Having been raised on a sheep and cattle farm and working as a sheep shearer
has inspired my many farming and animal pieces. The focus of my work is to
bridge the growing disconnects between modern society and farm life and to keep
people in touch with a world in which we are becoming so distant from.
I have come to focus on woodblock relief printmaking, as I enjoy carving and
isolating layers to create colourful, modern takes on rural lifestyles. For most
of my artworks I use my own photos for reference as I have access to many kinds
of animals through sheep shearing. My aim is to create images that can link traditional techniques in a modern style.
